So thanks to the iPhone 2.0 software release, I can now blog directly from my iPhone.
The photo below is of my oldest daughter and I walking on the beach at Camp Pendleton, CA over the fourth of July weekend.
Wow. So after making a new post to my blog on my iPhone, then seeing it on the computer, I must say, this little iPhone App is a must have!!
5 of 5 *’s
As I wrote last Tuesday, my cousin and a couple of friends went down to Borders Books and Music in Mesa to get our copies of “Save Me From Myself” signed by it’s author, Brian Welch, former lead guitarist of KoRn and newly reformed saint of Jesus Christ and brother to us. Well, I thought I would post a picture of the 5 of us standing pretty and posing for a disposable camera that took a pretty crummy shot – lol, but hey, at least we got this pic!

All in all, the experience was totally fun – hanging with my buddies, waiting in line and chatting with the others in line. I would totally do it again! But next time, I’d have brought my own camera! Just didn’t think of it. This pic was edited in PS2 as best as I could get it – adjusted levels, contrast, colors and blurred a bit. It’ll work.
Last night, my cousin and two of our friends headed down to the Borders Books and Music store in Mesa to see a book signing by Brian “Head” Welch. I stood in line with them for about an hour and a half before we got to meet Brian, shake his hand, get our picture taken and get our books signed by him. It was a really awesome experience – not because of the celebrity aspect of the endeavor, but because of the presence of so many saints to see the converted Korn guitarist amongst the crowd of people who didn’t even realize that Brian was there about a book that tells his story of his coming to Christ. Welch opened up by welcoming us, asking who’s read his book, explaining how the signing will take place then stated that if anyone was having difficulties that he’d love to talk with them and pray for them. He also said that if anyone wanted to recieve the Lord that night, that he’d pray with them for that, too. I just grinned – I loved that openness of his faith so much among so many people in a secular bookstore.
For today’s testimony, I’m posting a link to Amazon’s posting of his new book, Save Me From Myself. I’ve sporatically read through it and so far, I am very excited to get started on it – it seems to be an easy read and probably won’t take that long. I hope very much that you would order his book or go to the store and buy it and learn about how another soul was saved against all odds from a worldly perspective. Check out his website, Head to Christ.

Book Jacket Quote:
In February 2005, more than 10,000 people in Bakersfield, California, watched as Brian “Head” Welch–the former lead guitarist of the controversial Nu–metal band Korn–was saved by Jesus Christ. The event set off a media frenzy as observers from around the world sought to understand what led this rock star out of the darkness and into the light.
Now, in this courageous memoir, Head talks for the first time about his shocking embrace of God and the tumultuous decade that led him into the arms of Jesus Christ. Taking the reader backstage with Korn, Head tells the inside story of life in the band and how his rock star lifestyle resulted in an all–consuming addiction to methamphetamines. Head writes openly about the tour bus mayhem of Ozzfest and The Family Values tour, while providing a candid look at how the routine of recording and traveling placed him in a cycle of addiction that he could not break on his own.
Speaking honestly about his addiction, Head details his struggles with the drug that ultimately led him to seek a higher power. Despite his numerous attempts to free himself from his addiction, nothing–not even the birth of his daughter–could spur him to kick meth for good. Here he addresses how, with the help of God, he emerged from his dangerous lifestyle and found a path that was not only right for his daughter, it was right for him. In addition, he discusses the chaotic end to his time in Korn, and how his newfound faith has changed his perspective on his past.
Candid, compelling and inspirational, Save Me from Myself is a rock & roll journey unlike any other.

RE: Emergency Services Billing
To Whom It May Concern:
In the early morning of April 26, after experiencing severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting for more than six hours, I was taken to your emergency room. I was visiting from out of town and after checking in with the front desk where I had my blood pressure, temperature, and weight taken with absolutely no privacy by a triage nurse who spent no more than a minute with me and in no way diagnosed or treated me, I was instructed to sit in the waiting room.
I was called into an office to give my insurance information and told to go sit back down and wait. I found that I was sharing only one bathroom with the other 25-30 people awaiting treatment. This was quite inconvenient as I was continuing to experience diarrhea while vomiting violently every ten to fifteen minutes and that bathroom was often unavailable as it was being used frequently by other people getting sick and giving urine samples. I had to throw up in a garbage can.
While in the waiting room, we learned that the average wait time was 14 hours and someone suffering from similar symptoms as mine had been waiting already for four hours. The person staffing the front desk confirmed this and we decided, after waiting for two hours at that point, that I would be better served going home to rest as best I could.
I went to the front desk and told the staff person that I was going to leave. I was never treated or diagnosed by any medical professional during that time. In fact, the next day, when I was still experiencing the same symptoms that went undiagnosed and untreated in your emergency room, I was taken to a private doctor to be treated. It was then that I was diagnosed with an extreme case of food poisoning.
I was appalled, shocked, and angered when I received a phone call yesterday from your hospital explaining that my insurance carrier was charged $205.00 for a trip to the emergency room that resulted in absolutely no medical treatment whatsoever. When I heard I was being charged over $200.00 for having my blood pressure, temperature, and weight taken, I was even more furious. This is outrageous and unacceptable and Chandler Regional Hospital should be embarrassed by its billing practices, which seem to include charging outrageous fees to people who never become patients.
I was contacted yesterday because apparently I owe $30.00 that Tricare will not cover. There is no way that my visit to your emergency room incurred over $200.00 of actual, billable services, let alone $30.00. I begrudgingly pay this because I am a responsible person and because I will be taken to collections if I don’t. But I will be sending a copy of this letter to Tricare and I will be telling everyone I know (including family and friends in Arizona) about this appalling fleecing that occurs in your hospital.
Regretfully,
